Copying Songs or Blurred Lines? (from Music Business Worldwide )
Let’s kick off with something a bit geeky. As well as a cheeky 2 for 1. It’s about the new judgement against Robin Thicke, Pharell Williams and TI in the case brought against them by Maria Gaye’s family. One of the judges was particularly damning of the Gaye Family, even though the won the hearing. Props to Peter Robinson of Pop Justice fame, whose tweet got this in front of my eyes, and who also wrote a related piece for The Guardian last year. The question if Pop has run out of tunes is particularly frightening for an artist like me. Hopefully there are a few more ways to reinvent the wheel yet.

The New Tracey Thorn Album Reviewed (from Pitchfork)
To be honest it doesn’t really matter what the album sounds like. This review by Laura Snapes (Twitter @laurasnapes) is stunningly written and worth appreciating as a piece of writing on its own merits. I found myself amazed by the beauty of the writing whilst reading it, so I thought I’d share it.

What Your Hookup Music Says About You (from Noisey/Vice)
This is fun and so necessary because, on most days, I picture myself emerging from a bubble bath scattered with rose petals to gasps of excitement followed by rapturous applause by Danaerys, Mother of Dragons. It’s not Valentines anymore but dating carries on so this is definitely valid all year around.

The Best Cassette Releases Review (from The Quietus)
Having dusted off my mum’s cassette player a few days ago, I was pleasantly surprised when this popped up on Twitter. If you want cassette releases you probably want the best of them. Here’s what Tristan Bath (Twitter @tristan_bath) chose this month.
