It feels like November 2022 was just the other day yet now 2 weeks of 2023 have already flown by.
My new year’s situation was a bit different to most. The time between Christmas and New Year’s is a really busy time for me, whereas many are taking time off. When I say busy, I mean working New Year’s Day and the bank holiday on 2nd January. As my Jamaican friends would say “money haffi mek.”
That’s not me complaining by the way. I love what I do. It’s a privilege. And after so many years of not being able to do it, or wondering how to, I appreciate it big time. What this does mean though is that I was straight in with everybody else coming back to work on 3rd January and although I planned on taking a couple of days off I have been kept very busy. In between starting new ventures, wrapping up old ones and keeping going on others.
I didn’t make new year’s resolutions as such. It was more of a commitment to continuing certain habits that I know would help me towards my goals. So far I have had more samosa sessions than gym sessions but I’ve also managed to be consistent with a quick morning workout and some vocal exercises to help me perform better on the mic.
One of the other habits that I wanted to push forward on was writing more. That means both verses for songs, but also blogs, stories and books. I have achieved this on 1 of my business blogs but not so far on this, my main artistic home, where I really wanted to do this the most. So here I am. Eventually, after 17 days of January 2023, writing a little blog post to share some of my thoughts with you. I promise not to be a stranger. Promise you won’t either?
